Get to know me

Hi there, my name is Jamie Mackenzie, certified personal trainer and founder of Mackenzie Fitness. I have always had a passion for health and fitness and I have enjoyed being active since childhood.

Growing up, my main focus was rugby. I represented Devon in under 15 and 16’s but soon after this, my attention quickly shifted to the fitness industry. I joined a gym and I just loved the sense of achievement I got from working hard and seeing results. I remember this point in my life very well because this was when I made the decision to become a personal trainer. I wanted to help people feel the way I felt by achieving goals, seeing results and improving their wellbeing.

I went to college and gained my qualifications, whilst building a name for myself as a fitness instructor through my popular weekly circuit class and also by working as a personal trainer at Lords Meadow Leisure Centre, which is located in Crediton. Since then, I have not looked back! I am constantly developing my career to give my clients the best service possible. I am proud to say that I have created a private studio just 10 minutes outside of Crediton and I use Lords Meadow too which is a great facility. Depending on location, home visits can also be arranged. As you can see, there are so many options for clients to ensure that they are in the best possible exercise environment to perform optimally and feel comfortable. I also offer group training because I feel strongly that some people perform better in a group atmosphere by working out with friends. Everyone is different and I am happy to say that I offer many different training environments and formats to suit anybody that would like personal training.

I believe nutrition and other various lifestyle factors play a big role in the progression of clients and therefore I like to look into these areas with all my clients if they want to. This way, every possible area gets covered to make sure they are not just turning up and having a great workout, but that they are living a healthy, active lifestyle and getting the most out of life! I am aware that personal training is an investment. However, being fit and healthy improves your quality of life so much that it’s possibly the most important investment you will ever make!
